Projects
Porter Consulting Engineers were happily engaged by the Shire of Gingin to undertake detailed design of unkerbed rural road upgrade with re-profiling and widening of 17.8km for Heavy Vehicle (HV) route between Brand Highway and Cowalla Road. Orange Springs Road is part of the Agricultural Lime Network from Lancelin to the Wheatbelt. Upgrading of the road network was identified to accommodate the current and increasing movement of B-doubles and pocket road trains transporting lime and other agricultural commodities. Investigation and redesign of horizontal and vertical curves was also a component of the design.
PCE provided technical advice and guidance to the survey specification to enable its procurement by the Shire. Survey was undertaken by Links Surveying, we then prepared analysis and detailed design of the drainage (culverts, headwalls and v-drains), road and intersection works.
PCE prepared detailed design of the road horizontal and vertical alignment to meet Austroads and Main Roads Western Australia (MRWA) standards. We prepared design options and liaised with the Shire to deliver an appropriate design that was fit for purpose within the Shire’s construction budget limitation and project completion timeframes.
Staged construction has occurred following completion of the detailed design drawings. Evan Williams was the lead engineer and Doug Eames prepared the design drawings. At all stages, Porter Consulting Engineers worked with the Shire to deliver the project. The project was undertaken during 2019-2020 and had a project value of $5.2M.
